He with some other 29 was caught in a web made by the supervisor of ‘Perverted Justice’, an online anti-predator group. This group was hired by NBC. The purpose and motive was to project the Petaluma sting with police in “To Catch a Predator”, an NBC Dateline series. The supervisor of the group engaged Maurice with a fake identity “willowfilipino” and acted as a teen that needs sexually explicit activity, including chats.
Dr. Maurice continued with the chats without having knowledge that all the ‘cool-stuff’ was being saved in a computer. Afterwords, it was much late for him to understand the reality. Thus, in his curiosity he drove 40-miles north in August 2004, to meet this ‘teen’ personally and he was arrested there. It was then he was listed among 29 other suspects. The arrests of these suspects were also caught on tape for previously mentioned reason of series.
It was the top reality crime show that later brought the final insult relating them to the sex-sting broadcast; for hundreds of thousands viewers were familiar of their acts.
