Tornado Warning Phoenix
The National Weather Service in Phoenix issued a tornado warning Thursday afternoon for
northeastern majestic County, Southeastern Riverside County and Southwestern La Paz County in West Central Arizona.
The admonition expired at 4 p.m. PST and 5 p.m. MST, but a tornado watch remains in effect for southwestern Arizona and Southern California. At 3:06 p.m. PST, meteorologists detected a line of strict thunderstorms able of producing a tornado as well as detrimental immediately line winds in excess of 70 mph.
People in Blythe reported smash up steady with severe thunderstorms or a tornado, but at about 4 p.m. PST it was still unidentified whether or not a tornado struck the area, said Keith Kincaid, a Phoenix-based NWS meteorologist.
Meteorologists had detected at least two areas where short-lived tornadoes could develop, one about 5 miles west of the Blythe Airport and a second mainly over open country, over far extreme northeast Imperial County.
