The Canadian Air Transport Security Authority (CATSA) has unveiled a state-of-the-art screening line at Calgary International Airport (YYC), featuring advanced CT X-ray technology. This enhancement promises a smoother security experience for travellers at the USA Concourse E security checkpoint. With the new CT technology, passengers can now leave permitted liquids, aerosols, and gels (100 ml or less), medical devices, and large electronics—such as laptops—inside their carry-on bags, eliminating the need for removal during screening.
YYC is among the first Canadian airports to implement this cutting-edge security technology, marking a significant milestone in CATSA̢۪s national deployment program, which will extend CT X-ray capabilities to various airports over the coming years.
CATSA is excited to continue working closely with the Calgary International Airport Authority to roll out this advanced technology across all screening lines, further enhancing the security and convenience for travellers.
The introduction of CT X-ray technology reflects CATSA's ongoing commitment to improving the passenger experience while upholding the highest security standards at Canada̢۪s major airports.
