Getting to Whiteface Mountain is straightforward. From New York City, take the New York State Thruway (I-87) north to Exit 24 (Albany), then continue on I-87 north (Adirondack Northway) to Exit 30. From there, follow Route 9 north for two miles to Route 73, which leads directly to Lake Placid. The drive typically takes about five hours.
